After Incident At Hawk's Hill

A possible theme for IAHH is, patience and kindness gets you great things in life. This is a possible theme because Ben uses patience and kindness to create a bond with the female badger. Another example is at the end of the book William MacDonald helps Ben when the badger gets shot, and has patience with Ben when he asks his dad if the badger will be alright.

Character Traits:
I would like to cultivate the character trait of a strong will, from Mr. MacDonald. This character trait would help me get through tough times or difficult situations. Mr. MacDonald has a strong will because even when everybody was giving up hope on ever finding Ben, Mr. MacDonald kept looking everywhere he could and would not stop the search.

Michindoh Memories

I have many Camp Michindoh memories.

  • When my cabin played split-splat
  • My cabin leader, Bree, was as short or shorter than the campers
  • Skit night was hilarious
  • Crying with my cabin on Thursday night/ Friday morning because we were going to miss Bree
I have many more camp memories but if I were to list them all it would take about an entire day.

Future Career

Today my teacher asked my class to write a blog post about what we want to do when we are out of high school and or college. I am going to college to be a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) Soon my class will be writing letters to local businesses that do the jobs we want to do later in life. In my letter I will write to Owen's Ark Veterinarian Clinic in Genoa Ohio. Every month or so I help my grandma take her dogs to the vet and get to see what a vet does when they do a check-up on a dog.

Fake News

Today in class we were on Newsela and we read an article on fake news. I had not heard of this fake news yet so it took me by surprise. I was asked by my teacher to write a review on it and connect it to  H. G. Wells' War of the Worlds.

War of the Worlds talks about how aliens invade the Earth and take over and feed on people. People from a radio broadcast center decided to scare people by reading War of the Worlds over the radio. people tuned in late and didn't hear that it was them just reading War of the Worlds so people started to panic. In the end they got the word to the people who tuned in late that it was just them reading and everybody went back to their everyday lives. In the Newsela article it was about people obtaining fake news and believing it without knowing it was fake. The people that heard War of the Worlds were in the same situation.

I think that the people spreading the fake news are awful people. I say this because some people who see this fake news don't know its fake so they act on it and it can alter their lives if it plays a big enough part in it.

After The Tempest

The Tempest: Reflection
In The Tempest I liked and disliked some parts of it. I liked the story and the plot because it told a story of how people went from wanting revenge to giving forgiveness.  I disliked the costumes of the actors and actresses and how the background never changed with the scenes. I disliked the background because I could never understand where the people were and it was confusing, the background was always the ship and sometimes it was supposed to be the island or another place other than the ship.

The Tempest: Line Translation
So they are;
My spirits, as in a dream, all bound up.
My father's loss, the weakness which I feel,
The wreck of all my friends, nor this man's threats,
To whom I am subdued, are but light to me,
Might I but through my prison once a day
Behold this maid: all corners o' the Earth
Let liberty make use of space enough
Have I in such prison.

So they are;
my hopes are tied up
My father's loss, I feel weak
The death of my friends, nor this man's threats,
Who am I quiet to, is my happiness
There is one thing a day I cannot do
look at my servant: All around the Earth
let everybody be free; with enough space to live
I have in hard times

The Tempest: Theme
One possible theme for The Tempest is: Always forgive others. I say this because in The Tempest Prospero forgives his brother. This was a big change for Prospero because in the beginning he was trying to get revenge on his brother.

Class Exit Ticket: The Tempest

Today in class we watched more of The Tempest and we watched a scene with humor meant for the lower class people. I chuckled a little bit but I didn't really understand all of the humor in this scene.
